49ers pull off opening round upset at state tournament

ANCHORAGE, AK-They were the last seed but you couldn't tell them that. The Fairbanks 49ers pulled off a bit of an upset today at Mulcahy Stadium in the American Legion Baseball State Tournament. Fairbanks Post 11, the 10 seed beat Kenai Post 20 a seven seed, 6-4 to advance to the winners bracket.

Taylor Kesley pitched a complete game for Fairbanks. Lathrop's Terrell Ford hit a 2 run bomb to lead a 10 hit effort from the 49ers.

Cinderella may have a slipper on. The 49ers will take on Juneau, the number two seed tomorrow.
