Last evening marked the official opening ceremonies of the 2014 Arctic Winter Games.
Teams from different countries have been arriving in the Interior's largest city since Friday.
Thousands packed the Carlson Center for the ceremony that opens the games and the torch placed in front of the Carlson Center was lit for all to see.
The games continue throughout this week with sports such as figure skating, curling, sled dog mushing, and more.
Today events will start as early as 8AM and run throughout most of the evening.
Fairbanks Police Department has assigned officers with to the games to aid in security as the event draws thousands to the Interior.
