FAIRBANKS-Earlier today the Alaska Nanooks, number two in the country, took out the no.1 Kentucky Wildcats 4702-4671. The point total is a new program record for the Nanooks.
Alaska is unbeaten in five matches and got their latest win behind the sharp eye of sophomore Tim Sherry. Sherry led all shooters in smallbore with a 588. He was a perfect 200 in the prone position.
The team scored a 2377 in smallbore which is a NCAA best this season. They added a 2365 in air rifle.
Mats Eriksson shot a 587 in smallbore for Alasks. Ryan Anderson tallied a 594 in air rifle in lead all shooters in that discipline. Teammate Mike Luizza followed up with a 592. The pair shot 10 perfect shots as well.
Kentucky was led by Connor Davis and Aaron Holsopple who both shot 581 in smallbore.
Both teams will be back in the E.F. Horton Rifle Range at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
